Credit for Prior Learning
Earn Credit for What You Already Know
Use your prior learning to move faster toward your degree:
Professional & Military Credit
Potentially earn credit for prior learning through previously earned credit, non-credit or information learning, military education and training.
Continuing Education Pathway
Start with an LSU Professional Development Online certificate program and request credit for prior learning when admitted to an eligible degree or graduate certificate program.
Credit for prior learning allows you to align previously gained learning experiences to specific courses in a degree, decreasing time and money needed to complete your education.

Have questions about getting started?
Once you’re enrolled in a program at our university, let your Student Success Coach know that you’d like to talk with your academic advisor about any previous training or certifications that might qualify for credit through a prior learning assessment (PLA).
Important to know: Credit for prior learning is not guaranteed. Each request is reviewed by faculty and must meet specific requirements established by the academic department. You must be fully admitted and in good academic standing before applying for a PLA. Fees associated with prior learning assessments are set by the campus registrar in accordance with university policy and are non-refundable.
