Learn to be an Exceptional Healthcare Provider

LSU Alexandria

As the elderly population continues to grow, so will the demand for long term health care professionals. Learn how to plan, implement, and evaluate interventions and programs for the senior community through LSU Alexandria's online Bachelor of Science in Long Term Care Administration. Students will gain a thorough understanding of team-centered care of the elderly, evidence-based care for vulnerable populations, communication skills, and financial aspects of health care.

This program requires an intensive internship which is a structured program of supervised participation in health care organizations with emphasis on nursing homes and long-term care facilities. Students must work a minimum of 260 hours in each of 4 classes, keep a journal describing their work activities and hours worked, and write weekly reports and a final paper describing the learning value of their internship. Students must also participate in group and individual sessions with the instructor. Students must make application to the internship in the semester prior to that in which it will be taken. An internship must be secured before registering for the class.

Currently we are only admitting students living in Louisiana.
