For university acceptance, first-time freshman must meet the following criteria:

• Complete high school Core curriculum for college readiness in place at time of high school graduation
• Not be required to take more than one developmental course
• Have a high school grade point average of at least 2.0
• Meet one of the following:
  • Have an ACT composite of 20 or higher
  • Have a high school Core grade point average of at least 2.0

 

Transfer students to LSUA must meet one of the following sets of criteria:

• Have earned a transferable associate degree or higher
• Have earned at least 18 hours of college-level credit, including a college-level English and college-level mathematics course, with a grade of “C” or higher in each, and an overall GPA of at least 2.0
• Have earned at least 12 hours of college-level credit from LSUE or CLTCC Bridge Program, including a college-level English and college-level mathematics course, with a grade of “C” or higher in each, and an overall GPA of at least 2.0.
• If the above are not met, meet freshman admission requirements and be in good standing with their previous institution

Students who graduate with a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences degree will gain an interdisciplinary education that prepares them for whatever field they desire to pursue.

Graduates of the online BAAS program will learn to do the following:

• Develop leadership, management, and supervision strategies for public or private businesses and organizations.
• Apply career development strategies and progress into management-level positions.
• Develop effective verbal and written communication skills through industry-based projects and assignments.
• Use critical thinking skills and practical knowledge to gain an understanding of how ethical knowledge and decision-making are applied in a management setting.
• Apply human relations skills and personnel direction/management.
• Develop foundational skills to assist businesses in navigating local and national organizational growth.
• Devise sound fiscal management skills.

LSU Alexandria’s Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences is the only general BAAS degree offered in Louisiana. All applied associate degrees offered in Louisiana are Associates of Science, so students with a degree from any of those programs will be able to apply to our program. Many of the surrounding states also offer associate programs that are transferable to ours. LSUA also only requires 39 hours of general education that are very generic and can easily be completed at a student’s 2-year institution. Additionally, LSUA’s BAAS is one of the most affordable of its kind.
