LSU Online & Continuing Education now offers a Career Change Scholarship for individuals looking to make a career shift in growing fields like technology, web design, project management and more. Individuals can receive more than $1,000 in funds toward specific non-credit online certificates and micro-credential, or MicroCred, programs. To apply for the scholarship, visit online.lsu.edu/careerchange and fill out the short form. A student support team member will respond within one business day on how to apply the scholarship funds toward a non-credit program.
“The ultimate goal of LSU Online & Continuing Education is to improve the professional and financial lives of students,” said Sasha Thackaberry, vice president at LSU Online & Continuing Education. “This scholarship is a small way we can give back to the individuals most impacted during these uncertain times to help them to shift careers.”
The online MicroCred programs are designed for professionals to gain competency in a specific topic. The courses are developed by LSU faculty and expert instructors with real-world experience, so students can directly apply these new relevant skills immediately to the workplace. This program is perfect for those who need some prep work before switching careers.

Upon completion of any MicroCred program, students will receive a digital badge to bulk up their online resume, digital networking or website.
“Digital badges make it seamless for employers to find out what these individuals are highly skilled at,” said Melinda Stallings, an LSU MicroCred instructor. “In our digital age, and now working remotely, it’s important to be able to showcase your qualifications in an online format.”
Additionally, the scholarship funds can be applied toward traditional online certificates in topics such as data analytics, finance, digital marketing and more.
