Become equipped to expand your healthcare career with LSUA Online’s Bachelor of Science in Health Professions with a specialization in Medical Imaging. Developed from the Department of Allied Health and designed for working RTs from any state, this program is a post-professional baccalaureate degree for clinicians credentialed in Radiography. This program is designed to provide registered radiologic technologists (RT) with an opportunity to broaden their career pathways with a diversified plan of study in a balanced curriculum. Graduates will be prepared for advancement in multiple career roles or continuation to graduate study. Employment opportunities include: Advanced Imaging Modalities, Healthcare Management/Administration, PACS Administration, Quality Management, Commercial/Industrial (sales/support) and Graduate School (Radiologist Assistant or other graduate studies). Students who enroll in the Medical Imaging program must have already earned an Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology, be in good standing with the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists), and not be concurrently enrolled in a radiology program at another university.

Note: Students who have an advanced certification such as mammography, CT, MRI, US, QM, etc. will be granted credit (3 hours) for RADT 3100.

Admission Requirements

For university acceptance, first-time freshman must meet the following criteria:

  • Complete high school Core curriculum for college readiness in place at time of high school graduation
  • Not be required to take more than one developmental course
  • Have a high school grade point average of at least 2.0
  • Meet one of the following:
    • Have an ACT composite of 20 or higher
    • Have a high school Core grade point average of at least 2.0

* In order to be accepted to the BS in Health Professions with a Specialization in Medical Imaging program, applicants must have an Associate's Degree in Radiologic Trechnology from an ARRT accredited program and an ARRT license. 

Transfer students to LSU must meet one of the following sets of criteria:

  • Have earned a transferable associate degree or higher
  • Have earned at least 18 hours of college-level credit, including a college-level English and college-level mathematics course, with a grade of “C” or higher in each, and an overall GPA of at least 2.0
  • Have earned from a community college at least 12 hours of college-level credit, including a college-level English and college-level mathematics course, with a grade of “C” or higher in each, and an overall GPA of at least 2.0, or meet freshman admission requirements and be in good standing with their previous institution
