The online Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction: English as a Second Language is offered by LSU Shreveport. Through engaging course content and required hands-on field experience in schools and classrooms, teachers develop the knowledge and skills to effectively tackle two challenges: helping students from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds master the English language and giving them the tools to succeed in academic courses taught in English. Upon completing the program, you may qualify for an add-on certification and/or endorsement if you already possess a teaching certificate. Graduates will be prepared for many job opportunities, including Department of Defense teacher, ESL K-12 teacher, ESL adult teacher, and English teacher abroad.
This program meets rigorous national standards set by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation.
This program supports the Louisiana Performance Accountability System, the School Improvement Plan, and the Standards for Educational Leaders in Louisiana.
Applications may be submitted without a GRE/GMAT exam score.
Qualified applicants in certain programs may meet the requirements for the TEACH Grant.
The MEd in Curriculum & Instruction – ESL online program offers affordable, pay-by-the-course tuition. All fees are included in the total tuition.

Students in the MEd in Curriculum & Instruction - ESL online program must complete 30 credit hours of course work, including six foundation courses (18 credit hours), and four specialization courses (12 credit hours).

Graduate School Admission:
Unconditional Admission: For unconditional admission to graduate study, students must be in satisfactory standing at the last institution attended and meet all admission requirements of a degree program and one of the following:
Earned a graduate degree from a regionally accredited university, OR
Earned a bachelor's degree from an accredited university, with minimum 2.5 overall GPA or minimum 2.75 GPA in the last 60 semester hours of courses.
A minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) is required on any graduate work attempted with no grades of D or F.
International Admission:

The Undergraduate Certificate in Construction Management is been certified by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE).
Students who graduate from our MEd in Curriculum & Instruction – ESL program will gain the tools to become strong teachers and school leaders. Course work includes guidance on how to create and implement appropriate lesson plans and how to collaborate with essential parties.
