Writing Course Outcomes and Learning Objectives
Writing measurable course outcomes and learning objectives is a step in intentional alignment of a course. In this video, we explore the practice of writing measurable course outcomes and learning objectives as an integral part of course design. These learning goals are the foundation of a well aligned course. If they are well written, course outcomes and module objectives should clearly communicate how students can be successful in your course. In general, course outcomes specify what a student must know and do at the end of the course. In addition, they should be broad in nature so they can be broken down into module objectives. All course outcomes should align to one or more module objectives, be measurable, specific, relevant to the overall course goals, and be written in student facing language.
