The Power of Data Storytelling

Data storytelling is the skill of communicating insights from a dataset using narratives and visualizations. It is a technique that is used to help colleagues and stakeholders understand the context of data and then use the insights to make informed decisions.

In this faculty showcase, Jennifer Page (Learning Experience Designer) and Dr. Mark Verret  (Instructor in the E. J. Ourso College of Business and IT manager at the Center for Analytics and Research in Transportation Safety at LSU) discuss how students in GBUS 3304: Visual Analytics practice data storytelling using real-world data sets and the industry-standard analytics platform Tableau. Dr. Verret explains why this skill is crucial to students seeking a career in technology, business, and finance.
