Preparing Your Online or Blended Course

LSU Online & Continuing Education provides professional development opportunities in a variety of formats for faculty who are interested in designing and teaching online or blended courses. Follow the suggested steps below to have a quality course available for your students and a smooth start to the term!

View Workshop Recordings to Prepare for the Term

  1. Design to Align: Achieving Course Alignment and Improving Student Outcomes (Length: 1:05:36)
    In this workshop, we discuss the basic principles of course design along with strategies to ensure the alignment of course materials.
  2. Design Your Blended Course (Length: 1:19:02)
    In this workshop, we discuss the basic principles of designing a blended course, including strategies for selecting appropriate activities suited to each modality and integrating them in creating a cohesive learning experience.
  3. Build Your Course (Length: 2:13:23)
    Throughout this workshop, participants work on editing and adding content to their Moodle template course.
  4. Facilitating an Online Course: Effective Instructional Practices (Length: 1:14:07)
    This workshop examines strategies faculty can use to actively engage learners and create instructor presence in building a meaningful learning environment.

Note: If faculty developed an LSU Online course and plan to use the same course for campus online, they should ensure their course uses the most recent Moodle template and meets the standards outlined in the Course Design Checklist
