Become equipped to expand your health care career with LSU Alexandria's online Bachelor of Science in Health Professions with a concentration in Medical Imaging. Developed from the Department of Allied Health and designed for working RTs from any state, this program is a post-professional baccalaureate degree for clinicians credentialed in Radiography.

This program is designed to provide registered radiologic technologists (RT) with an opportunity to broaden their career pathways with a diversified plan of study in a balanced curriculum. Graduates will be prepared for advancement in multiple career roles or continuation to graduate study. Employment opportunities include: Advanced Imaging Modalities, Health Care Management/Administration, PACS Administration, Quality Management, Commercial/Industrial (sales/support), and Graduate School (Radiologist Assistant or other graduate studies).

*A bachelor’s degree requires 120 credit hours. However, the BS in Health Professions (Medical Imaging) is designed specifically for students who are registered radiologic technologists (RT).

Most students require 38 hours to complete this bachelor’s degree, allowing you to build on your previous education and graduate faster. However, all credit hours from previous coursework will be evaluated to determine the number of hours needed. See the course listing below for all required courses.

Students who have an advanced certification such as mammography, CT, MRI, US, QM, etc. will be granted credit (3 hours) for RADT 3100. 

Students who have ARRT, ARDMS, or NMTCB will be granted full credit (43 hours) for required 1000 and 2000-level RADT courses. 

*Students who do not have 43 credits of prior RADT coursework will have additional electives to complete the 120-hour degree.

      Admission Requirements Online Bachelor of Science in Health Professions: Medical Imaging

      Applicants must have ARRT, ARDMS, or NMTCB to be granted full credit (43 hours) for required 1000 and 2000-level RADT courses.

      Transfer students to LSUA must also meet one of the following sets of criteria:

      • Have earned a transferable associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited university OR
      • Have earned at least 18 hours of college-level credit, including a college-level English and college-level mathematics course, with a grade of “C” or higher in each, and an overall GPA of at least 2.0 OR
      • Have earned at least 12 hours of college-level credit from LSUE or CLTCC Bridge Program, including a college-level English and college-level mathematics course, with a grade of “C” or higher in each, and an overall GPA of at least 2.0, OR
      • Meet freshman admission requirements and be in good standing with their previous institution 

      Re-Enrollment Information for LSUA

      Although LSUA has six sessions (terms) a year, there are only three semesters (Fall, Spring, and Summer).  Summer enrollment is optional and will not affect student records.

      One Semester

      Students who are not enrolled for one entire semester (both Fall terms or both Spring terms) will need to complete the "I am Coming Back Form" at least two weeks before the term starts to let us know they are returning so we can reactivate their record.  

      More Than One Semester

      Students who are not enrolled for more than one full semester (Fall ELearn1 and ELearn2 AND ELearn1 of Spring – or all of Spring ELearn1 and ELearn2 and ELearn1 of Fall) will have to reapply.  Students do not have to resubmit documents that we already have but would need to submit new transcripts from any school attended while absent from LSUA.  Re-entry students are eligible to be re-admitted.
