Students in the Online Master of Science in Kinesiology with a specialization in Health Promotion and Sport Performance program will learn how to effectively plan, implement, and evaluate health behavior programs, interventions, and policies. This degree is designed to provide an understanding of best practices regarding sport performance, healthy behaviors, and avoiding preventable risks. Upon completing this program from LSU Online, graduates will understand how to synthesize and apply evidence-based approaches that enhance sport performance, facilitate healthy behavior, and address public health challenges.

The admission policies of the School of Kinesiology provide a possible alternative to the GRE/GMAT requirement for applicants who have a 3.0 G.P.A. in their last 60 hours of undergraduate work.

Students enrolled in the online MS in Kinesiology with a specialization in Health Promotion and Sport Performance will gain the skills and experience to contribute to healthy sport performance and address public health issues.
The curriculum in this degree program will include the following topics:
Examination of the social construction of sport and the systemic issues connected to contemporary sport
Problems of several areas of social psychology related to sport
Community health aspects and implications of tobacco, alcohol, drugs, venereal disease and other communicable diseases
Motivation and determinants of health behavior
Basic principles and methods of testing, training, and programming related to sports performance
