ALEXANDRIA - LSUA recently announced that it has earned the 2024-2025 Military Friendly ® School Gold level designation.

The 2024-2025 Military Friendly® Schools list will be published in the May and October issue of G.I. Jobs magazine and can be found at www.militaryfriendly.com.

Institutions earning the Military Friendly ® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. More than 1,800 schools participated in the 2024-2025 survey, with 537 earning special awards for going above the standard.

Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly ® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for Student Retention, Graduation, Job Placement, Loan Repayment, Persistence (Degree Advancement or Transfer), and Loan Default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.

Lacey Caillier, LSUA Student Involvement Coordinator, said, “Louisiana State University of Alexandria (LSUA) is deeply honored to receive the prestigious Military Friendly Gold Designation as an affirmation of our ongoing dedication to serving our military students on campus. From commemorating the Month of the Military Child to securing grants and forging partnerships, our initiatives underscore our unwavering commitment to enhancing support for veterans at LSUA. As we continue to expand our efforts, including the establishment of a Student Veterans of America chapter and welcoming the Louisiana Secretary of Veterans Affairs to our campus, we remain steadfast in our mission to provide a supportive and welcoming environment for all those who have served our country.”

From securing grants to foster veteran-related initiatives, to chartering a Student Veterans of America chapter, LSUA continually demonstrates its dedication to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for veterans. Additionally, LSUA's upcoming visit from the Louisiana Secretary of Veterans Affairs on April 11 underscores its collaborative efforts with government agencies to serve veterans effectively and foster future partnerships. With initiatives like early registration, specialized orientations, and lunch and learns to facilitate knowledge-sharing and community-building among veterans and other members of the campus community, LSUA strives to enhance its support network for military-affiliated students, ensuring they have the resources and community they need to thrive on campus.

Kayla Lopez, National Director of Military Partnerships at Military Friendly® said, “Military Friendly® is committed to transparency and providing consistent data-driven standards in our designation process. Our standards provide a benchmark that promotes positive outcomes and support services that better the educational landscape and provide opportunities for the Military Community. This creates a competitive atmosphere that encourages Institutions to evolve and invest in their programs consistently. Schools who achieve awards designation show true commitment in their efforts, going over and above that standard.”

LSUA has a special bond with the military. Drawing on the region's ties to the Louisiana Maneuvers during WWII, the LSUA Generals derive their namesake from the cadre of US Army officers training soldiers in the area, including George Marshall, Dwight Eisenhower, George Patton, and Omar Bradley. Gen. Patton’s famous bull terrier, Willie, is the inspiration behind the General’s own bull terrier mascot, Tank.
