What expenses are covered?

  • Up to nine (9) credit hours per fiscal year (July-June), with a limit of one (1) class per semester or quarter
  • A required 1 credit-hour lab may be included in conjunction with a course
  • An employee may be reimbursed for up to 50% of the actual tuition cost and required fees

Who Qualifies?

  • Permanent DOTD employees (classified and unclassified)
  • Must have at least 1 year of DOTD service

What is my commitment?

  • Employees must remain with DOTD for 2 years after receiving reimbursement or repay the department.

  • 3 professional letters of recommendation
  • TOEFL/IELTS scores (no more than two years old) are required for international applicants. (Unless they have completed one year of full-time study at a U.S. university. For the TOEFL, applicants must have a score of at least 550 on the paper-based test, a 213 on the computer-based test, or a 79 on the Internet-based test, or an IELTS score of 6.5, or a PTE score of at least 59.)

  • Any student with a bachelor's degree in related STEM fields such as petroleum engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, geophysics, and applied mathematics who want to transition to civil engineering are qualified for admission to this PBC program. 
  • SAT/GRE/GMAT tests are not required for entering this program.

Offered through LSU, this degree is designed to give students the skills they need to succeed in today's construction and design industry. The program mixes civil engineering, construction management, and business topics, with built-in minors in construction management, business administration, and technical sales (marketing), giving graduates a wide range of career options.

Admissions Requirements:

  • 3.0 core GPA on the 19 units of college-preparatory high school courses as outlined in the LSU Core
  • LSU is a test-optional institution which means applicants will have the choice to select if they wish to have their ACT or SAT scores considered for admission.

Submit the Tuition Reimbursement Form 

Send the application and contract form to your DOTD Appointing Authority before the semester begins. Be sure to include:

Once approved, register and start your courses!

Note: All DOTD employees must follow the university guidelines for withdrawal if they choose to drop a class after registration. Failure to do so may place the employee personally responsible for tuition costs.
