Submit the Tuition Reimbursement Form
Send the application and contract form to your DOTD Appointing Authority before the semester begins. Be sure to include:
- Fee schedule (choose current year > LSU Online)
- Course description(s) (found in the LSU General Catalog)
Complete Registration
Once approved, register and start your courses!
Note: All DOTD employees must follow the university guidelines for withdrawal if they choose to drop a class after registration. Failure to do so may place the employee personally responsible for tuition costs.
Admission Requirements
Civil Engineering
Master of Science
Admissions Requirements:
- Bachelor's in civil engineering with GPA ≥ 3.0 (A GPA of 2.75 may be accepted with relevant work experience.)
- GRE waived
- 3 professional letters of recommendation
- TOEFL/IELTS scores (no more than two years old) are required for international applicants. (Unless they have completed one year of full-time study at a U.S. university. For the TOEFL, applicants must have a score of at least 550 on the paper-based test, a 213 on the computer-based test, or a 79 on the Internet-based test, or an IELTS score of 6.5, or a PTE score of at least 59.)
Applicants Without an Undergraduate Degree in Civil Engineering:
Students without an undergraduate BS degree in CEE are allowed to enroll in graduate programs. However, those students are required to pass leveling courses to satisfy department requirements. The department and transportation specialty leveling courses are listed below. Students may enroll as a non-matriculating until leveling courses are completed.

Civil Engineering
Post-Baccalaureate Certificate
Admissions Requirements:
- Any student with a bachelor's degree in related STEM fields such as petroleum engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, geophysics, and applied mathematics who want to transition to civil engineering are qualified for admission to this PBC program.
- SAT/GRE/GMAT tests are not required for entering this program.
Construction Engineering
Bachelor of Science
Admissions Requirements:
- 3.0 core GPA on the 19 units of college-preparatory high school courses as outlined in the LSU Core
- LSU is a test-optional institution which means applicants will have the choice to select if they wish to have their ACT or SAT scores considered for admission.

Before you begin your LSU Online application, review these tips to ensure a smooth process and successful use of your DOTD education benefit:
Enter your full legal name as it appears on your employment documents or benefits application.
Apply to the same program you’ll be requesting tuition reimbursement for.
Select “Other” when asked, “Who is your tuition benefits facilitator?” on the Employer Tuition Reimbursement page of the application, and type “LaDOTD” into the text box below.
Use your application fee waiver code: GEAUXTIGERS
Select the next upcoming term to start your courses as soon as possible and stay on track toward your goals.
Submit official transcripts from any college or university attended after high school. Freshman applicants may also need to submit high school transcripts. If you studied outside the U.S., additional requirements like credential evaluations, translations, and English proficiency exams may apply.

- Graduate applicants: Send transcripts to gradtranscripts@lsu.edu If you previously attended LSU A&M in Baton Rouge, no need to send your LSU transcript. If you attended another LSU campus, you must request it separately.

Will my degree say I earned it online?
No, graduates receive the same diploma as on-campus peers.
Will I pay out-of-state tuition if I am outside of Louisiana?
There are no out-of-state fees. Fully online programs offer the same flat-rate tuition no matter where you live.
