LSU Tiger Challenge is a unique academic summer program that engages the interest and imagination of students entering kindergarten through 6th grade. Exemplary teachers integrate math, reading, writing, science and social studies around stimulating themes designed for each grade level. Critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills are emphasized in a community of motivated students. Experience a series of programs that capture interest, create engaging hands-on projects, and result in valuable preparation for the upcoming school year. Course themes and content are developed based on state curriculum standards.
This unique program invites pre-college students entering grades 7–8 grade to join us as a Tiger Scholar! University High School serves as the home base for these courses unless otherwise noted. Students expand their knowledge in a field of interest and gain valuable access to the nationally-acclaimed resources on the campus of LSU. Instructors work collaboratively with university departments to secure lab visits, college readiness tours, expert introductions, and engaging project-based learning. Louisiana State University, Continuing Education, a non-profit organization, is proud to offer the Summer Reading Skills Program as a community service to families at 8 locations throughout Louisiana. Since 2003, this program has helped students in our community build strong reading skills and develop a deep love of books and reading. The program is designed and taught by the Institute of Reading Development, a nationwide leader in reading skills instruction.

The road to the Louisiana Science and Engineering Fair (LSEF) starts in middle and high schools all around the state. Students compete to advance from their school-level fairs to a regional fair, and then to the Louisiana statewide event.
