Leveraging Instructor Presence and Authentic Assessments in Course Design
In this faculty showcase, Instructor of Civil Engineering, Dr. Tyson Rupnow, and Learning Experience Designer, Lydia Treadwell, discuss how they collaborated on the development of CE 7701: Concrete Applications in Transportation for LSU Online and found ways to design engagement opportunities to demonstrate instructor presence, which is vital in the online environment. They also discuss how authentic assessments were a major design focus to make learning meaningful and simulate real-world professional applications of the content as best as possible.
