Preparing for Summer 2022

May 5, 2022

Preparing your Summer courses? The Design & Development (D&D) team and the Faculty Technology Center (FTC) provide the following services and resources for faculty:

  • In-Residence Support: Use this service if you are seeking individualized consultation with a member of the D&D team on specific questions related to online or blended course design. You can schedule a consultation with an FTC representative on technical support and troubleshooting (e.g., assistance with Moodle).
  • Faculty Resources for Learning Design & Teaching: Enroll in this Moodle course that includes useful resources, checklists, and templates for you to browse through and adapt as needed.
  • Facilitating an Online or Blended Course: Explore our webpages that include resources and key considerations in facilitating your online or blended course. Additionally, you can register for the May 12 offering of the Facilitating an Online Course: Effective Instructional Practices workshop.
  • Preparing and Facilitating Your Online Course: Review and keep this checklist handy as you prepare for the start of the term.
  • Reminder: Ensure Your Summer Course Includes the Required Academic Engagement Activities
Federal Financial Aid regulations require the confirmation of attendance in 100% online courses by the census date for students to receive federal aid. Please be sure to include an academic engagement activity (AEA) that is due by the census date (May 27, 2022). Faculty typically designate this activity by including "AEA" in the title of the activity. Keep in mind that the AEA activity cannot be an introduction forum or syllabus quiz—students must engage with the academic content of the course.

Although not a Financial Aid requirement, your course should also include an academic engagement activity that is due on the last day of the term (students must complete the activity by that date). This is to confirm student participation for the entire course duration.

For more information, please view the Financial Aid Reporting: Academic Engagement Requirement Learn & Geaux video.
