Format
The courses in this MicroCred are regular three-credit LSU courses offered through Online Distance Learning. You are allowed six months to complete each course; however, because courses are self-paced, you may complete a course in as little as four weeks. Each course includes a syllabus that explains the course requirements. The courses are completed entirely online.
Requirements
These online courses require access to a computer with Internet access, email, an Internet browser (Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox recommended), MS PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Learning Outcomes
Learners can compare and contrast financial and cost/management accounting, demonstrate cost estimation techniques, identify relevant cost and revenue data, and recognize key success factors. They know the relevant tax code and regulations for individual taxpayers, how to research tax problems, and how line items appear on tax forms. They can work as an auditor with a public accounting firm, complete the auditing portion of the CPA examination, and know the role of professional accounting.
